Slarges are heaping masses of sponge material that gain their power from being freed from their pill-shaped cells and being released into the world, which is accomplished by the pill being placed within water. In-game they grow as fast in water as advertised! The pills, usually have one purpose in life, to get themselves put into any liquid they can find and attain their true power within, but for many this is a challenge to great to bear: for others, it's your obstacle.
Fun Fact: Now I know that the oceans are molten plastic, which is not water, but please do not question the logic of the giant sponge monster being in the waters of molten plastic.
