The burnt are Elsens that undergo so much visceral emotion that they crack open like an egg, and a pillar of smoke comes rushing out, this is an unexplained phenomenon amongst the zones but is something that is horrifying to witness as a Elsen who is not burnt and excruciating to experience as one. What I wouldn't give to not be in their shoes...
Fun Fact: This does not kill the Elsen, this is a process and state that they are fully alive to bear the weight and pain of.
